Pain and Age – Healthier Ageing
Pain and Age (Healthier Ageing)
The rate of population ageing is rising, with the number of people over 60 expected to double between 2030 and 2050. And we need to consider how we can meet their needs before it’s too late. Although people are living longer, they are not necessarily living healthier into old age. We need to tackle long-term health management so that we don’t just live longer but live better.
We know that pain is associated with ageing. There is a progressive increase in pain with a peak in growth during middle age (55-65 years) up to 80%.1 One fifth of adults over 65 experience pain at 4 or more sites.2
