Sensodyne Science: Sodium Fluoride Formulations
Sodium fluoride formulations build protection over time to help desensitise nerves in tooth pulp3–6
Sensodyne potassium formulations contain 5% potassium nitrate. Potassium is an ingredient that is clinically proven to reduce dentine hypersensitivity:3–6
- Potassium ions can travel into exposed dentine tubules
- Build-up of potassium ions over time helps desensitise nerves in the tooth pulp, making them irresponsive to sensitivity stimuli
Potassium nitrate desensitises nerves through the accumulation of potassium ions making nerves less responsive to potentially painful stimuli3–8
Potassium nitrate formulations work inside dentine to target the source of the sensitivity.3–8
Sensodyne: low abrasion formulas
Specially formulated for sensitive teeth1
Exposed dentine is up to 10x softer than enamel and so needs to be treated with care. Sensodyne Deep Clean Gel toothpastes with potassium nitrate are low abrasion toothpastes, and have been shown in an in situ study to have a lower impact on dentine loss than toothpaste with moderate or high abrasivity.*9
